FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have a read through our answers and if you still can't find what you're looking for get in touch!

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I ORDER?

For wedding cakes we suggest booking at least 2-3 months before your big day. However we might be able to squeeze you in with less notice, depending on design!

Everything else must be ordered at least a week or two before you need it, or even longer if customised toppers or specialty items are required.

DO YOU DELIVER?

Yes! We highly recommend delivery so you don't have the stress of transporting your cake! The cake responsibilty is transferred to the customer upon pickup, so one quick corner or a hard stop can be a disaster.

Delivery pricing will be included in your quote, but also pick up is available from Mount Eliza.

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS?

When you receive your invoice you will find banking details to do a direct deposit, or Paypal information to pay using your Paypal account or credit/debit card. A 50% deposit is required immediately, with the balance due a week before your event.

CAN I HAVE A WEDDING CONSULTATION?

We don't currently hold consultations, but highly recommend ordering a sample pack - https://www.atlascakestudio.com.au/samples

Have a bit of fun trying 8 different samples with your spouse-to-be, award each flavour a mark out of 10 on your special scoreboard and compare to find your favourite flavours!

DO YOU OFFER CORPORATE CAKES?

Yes. Please enquire for corporate information! We can apply your company logos on cakes, cookies or cupcakes, and offer packages for larger functions.

I'M CONFUSED ABOUT SERVING SIZES. WHAT SHOULD I ORDER?

For wedding cakes you should be ordering based upon 'finger' slices, because cake is usually served with tea and coffee following a dessert course. However if you will be using the cake as your dessert you should allow for a 'dessert serve'.

For birthday or celebration cakes it depends if you will be having other desserts or cupcakes. If there are other sweet treats available then you will only need a 'finger' slice for your guests. If the cake is your dessert you can go with 'dessert serves' to provide an adequate slice. For single tier cakes we have also included a 'party' size, which is perfect it your guests require a big chunk of cake or you want some leftover to have the next day/give some for everyone to take home.

Under the 'Cake Size Guide' tab we have included a comprehensive guide to help you make your decision.

I WANT A BIG CAKE BUT DON'T HAVE A HUGE GUESTLIST. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

No problem, we can use polystyrene dummy tiers to create the effect of grandeur without you having to eat leftover cake for months! This is available in buttercream and fondant options only.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CATER FOR DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?

With a nephew allergic to nuts, egg and dairy and a number of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan friends we have many tried and tested recipes to cater to any requirements! Just please stipulate the allergy or requirements when ordering and we can ensure all your guests are catered for. Usually the best option is to provide dietary cupcakes alongside the cake to avoid contamination. However we can make the entire cake dietary friendly should you need it to be.

We understand the severity of allergies and potential anaphylaxis, and the concern that comes with the safety of what's being consumed. To help mitigate any cross contamination we have designated utensils and bowls specifically for allergen free uses.

Please note that although we will try our best to ensure there is no contamination, the products will be made in a kitchen that has traces of nuts, eggs, dairy and gluten. Many ingredients are sourced as allergen free however due to our kitchen's environment, products sold or served may contain allergens and are not allergen free.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO CONTACT YOU?

Email is by far the best method of contact so that our discussions and orders can be kept track of. Please contact us at hello@atlascakestudio.com.au or via the contact form rather than through social media.

DO YOU OFFER SAMPLES?

Yes! Order under our 'Buy Now' tab or click here - https://www.atlascakestudio.com.au/samples

For $50 you will get 8 samples express posted to you and if you order your cake with us within the month you'll get $30 off. Samples are usually available every month, but check the drop down list to check.

ARE YOU REGISTERED?

Yes! We are registered with the council, fully insured and a member of the Australian Cake Decorating Network.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH FLOWERS?

The easiest option for both you and for us is to let us arrange fresh flowers to complement your bouquet and venue, or to suit your colour scheme. Pricing will be included in your quote.

If you wish to order flowers through your wedding florist this is also possible, providing we are able to liaise and organise arrival of the flowers prior to the cake arriving at the venue. Please note, you cannot attach them yourselves because they have to be treated and prepared to ensure they are food safe. There will be a set up fee if you choose this option.

Alternatively you can opt for silk flowers, which enables you to then have them as a keepsake from your big day.

HOW DO I STORE MY CAKE? CAN I FREEZE IT?

Buttercream cakes must be stored in the fridge until an hour before the event begins.

Fondant cakes must NOT be stored in the fridge, as they will start to sweat when they come out and warm up to room temperature.

Once cut you can store both types of cakes in the fridge, either in a container or tightly wrapped in plastic wrap to retain the moisture. Usually the cakes remain delicious for at least a week, just remove from the fridge about 20 minutes beforehand for optimum taste!

The cakes store well in the freezer too! Wrap leftover cake tightly in plastic wrap, or cut into slices, wrap in plastic wrap and put in a container. Ideally remove from the freezer the night before to defrost in the fridge overnight.

WHAT IF I WANT TO MAKE LAST MINUTE CHANGES?

If toppers, stencils or other special items have been ordered then you cannot make changes to these.

For wedding cakes, you can make changes (within reason) up to 3 weeks prior. For all other cakes you can make changes (within reason) up to 2 weeks prior. Changes can be colour alterations, wording, flavours or slight sizing if you have additional guests. Please note you cannot downsize or change the amount of tiers. There may be additional charges depending on the changes.

The earlier you make the changes the better, but generally once you have ordered a cake that design, size and style is locked in.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Your booking is secured with a 50% deposit when you order your cake.

Cancellations with more than 6 weeks notice will result in a $100 cancellation fee.

Cancellations within 6 weeks of the event date will result in a non-refundable deposit.
